“He located a Lesbian named Marian who lived in the Village and said she was a Poetess”
  London Musicians Collective, 1981

P. D. Burwell, Cris Cheek, Anne Bean, Carlyle Reedy, Bob Cobbing and Steve Cripps worked together in various combinations in performances referencing the Beat Generation who celebrated non-conformity and spontaneous creativity, experimentation in all aspects of living and levels of consciousness, an interest in Eastern spirituality and a rejection of mainstream Western values.

For Beat Week at the London Musicians Collective, the programme notes read :

“This meaningless but atmospheric title was lifted by Anne Bean from William Lee’s ‘Junkie’ and is the heading for a composite performance of artists brought together by P. D. Burwell.”
