Deflowered (2004/05)

This series was a continuation of works questioning material stability and object as event. This piece juxtaposed real and artificial flowers and the decay of the photographed image alongside the decay of the flowers. During the year of REAP, the organic flowers, initially indistinguishable from the artificial ones, decomposed leaving the vibrant artificial flowers seemingly unchanged. A life-size photo of the vase in its initial pristine bloom was placed beside the actual vase so that the photo and the artificial flowers kept’in touch’ with each other. In parallel, 3 of these life-size photos were put outside for different lengths of time and finally placed beside the vase of flowers so these several levels of deterioration, in both in image and objects, existed in the same time-space.  see REAP
