For the 150th anniversary of the Architectural Association, I invited the trombonist Alan Tomlinson, the drummers Paul Burwell and Steve Noble, the singer Mary Genis and the artist/pyrotechnician Mark Anderson to create an aural land and skyscape to accompany Alan, hoist on a crane, responding to sounds from the ground. 150 small cakes with candles, helium balloons with a luminous A attached floated into a sky filled with glowing As and lancework letters ignited alongside a range of pyrotechnics.
