Throughout the year, Anne installed several works for Reap including Twelve Hundred Fathoms and Ashes, Remember Me, 365 Dresses, Today's the Day, Yearnings, Sand Shifting and Visitations. In Today's the Day, Anne asked 72 people to be custodians of a teddy bear for a year. The identical and pristine teddies were placed in extraordinarily diverse locations throughout the world including the insect house at London Zoo, on top of a mountain in the Pyrenees, in a nuclear bunker, under a North Sea oil rig, in a sacred Maori cave, in the Tate archives, between the tides on the Thames, on an island in the Venetian lagoon, on a Moroccan rooftop and in a Zambian school. They returned to Southwark one year later bearing the evidence of their journeys, physical or metaphysical, and were exhibited at Coleman Project Space opened by an Elvis impersonator singing continuously "Teddy Bear." The middle image shows the bear that underwent a petrification process at Hot Springs Colonnade, Karlovy Vary (Carlsbad) Western Bohemia, Czech Republic. Back to Reap |
